What is a Jurat?
A Jurat is the 2nd most completed document by a notary public. A Jurat document can be identified if the phrase "Subscribed and sworn to (or affirmed) before" is contained within the form. In notarizing a Jurat the
Newport Beach Mobile Notary (or any California Notary Public) is confirming the following:
- The signer appeared in person before the mobile notary public agent on the specific date and county as indicated on the Jurat
- That the document was signed by the signer and in the presence of the mobile notary public
- The notary public gave an oath or affirmation to the signer
- The notary public has confirmed the identity of the signer
For any Jurat administered in California it needs to be in the following format:

Subscribed and sworn to (or affirmed) before me on this _______ day of ________, 20__, by ____________________, proved to me on the basis of satisfactory evidence to be the person(s) who appeared before me.
